Regina & Jae : Chapter 8

ReginaAndJae-290x300

A few hours of quality time in, and Jae was ready to make her exit. “Sorry baby,” she flashed a pitiful face at Christina, “I have to go get a few things done before I head over to the club tonight. Duty calls.”

“Well, let me come with you.” Christina said as she inserted a pitiful face of her own, already knowing her request would be denied.

“Nah, you know how my nights are. I’ll be all over the place and you wont really get to enjoy yourself.” Jae quickly started pulling her jeans and t-shirt on in a rush to leave. “I will wake you up afterward and stop by.” Ending the discussion there, she quickly kissed her on the forehead and fled the scene. Christina could do nothing more than roll her eyes and close the door behind her.

Once Jae was home and showered, she collapsed into her couch. This is too easy. She thought to herself as she ran her fingers over the bracelet Regina had given her for their two year anniversary. She had told herself that night that things would change, that she would let the women go, but she just couldn’t shake the urge to be with them. The women she pursued were nothing like Regina… They made her feel needed, wanted and appeared dependent on her. These women spent their time stroking her ego and craving her attention. There was nothing that she would ask of any of them that they were not willing to provide.

Regina on the other hand, was so much different. She was independent, sassy and made it clear she didn’t need Jae for a thing. She never asked for Jae’s assistance or opinion on anything and was never amused by Jae’s chivalrous behavior of carrying bags and opening doors. It frustrated the hell out of Jae. More than anything, she wanted Regina to need her… even if she only pretended. With that final thought, Jae fell asleep hating one of her favorite qualities in Regina, her independence.

She was ripped from her nap by her alarm ringing in her ears, 10:15p. She never made it to the club early enough to see the doors open because that wasn’t where the action was. She liked to arrive around midnight after the drinks had been flowing and the ladies started turning friendly.

She smirked at the thought of making another new friend and adding to her list of many. She scrolled through her recently received texts and missed calls, replying to some and leaving others for later. It wasn’t until she had gone through them all that she realized she hadn’t heard from Regina all day… not a word. This wasn’t like Regina and Jae was now worried that she would have to do major damage control for canceling on their movie.“Hey baby. My bad about the movie… did you enjoy it?” was the text she sent.

“No need to apologize. It was great.” was the reply.

“I really am sorry baby. I would have loved to take you.”

“No worries, Morgan loved it.”

“Well, let me make it up to you. Come by the club tonight.” After Jae sent it, she couldn’t help but hope that Regina wouldn’t be interested. She had her heart set on making moves on one of the new regulars and couldn’t chance Regina causing another scene.

“No thanks, I’m tired and headed to bed. Have fun and goodnight.” was all the reply Regina was willing to provide as she turned her phone off and resettled into Morgan’s arms for the night.

Jae was surprised to find that Regina rather stay home than join her at the club, but she shrugged it off, got dressed and headed out.

Regina & Jae : Chapter 3

ReginaAndJae-290x300

Jae wiped her eyes and smoothed out her clothes in an attempt to compose herself. She looked back at Regina, who was still on the couch and could do nothing but shake her head. “I know I did dirt Regina, but this strikes too close to home. I made mistakes, but I’ve changed for you…”

Regina parted her lips to respond, but Jae had already walked out the door. After watching it slam, she ran to her balcony window in just enough time to watch Jae speed out of the parking lot.

As she looked around her living room and relived the scene in her mind, she became weak and fell to her knees. She had been waiting for what felt like years for this moment and now it was nothing but a disaster. After five minutes of wallowing in self pity and hardly any guilt, she pulled herself up, grabbed a flashlight and hit the parking lot in search of the tiny diamond ring………

Jae couldn’t think straight. Her tears were replaced by pure rage and she was speeding down the freeway at an unforgiving speed. She clicked Morgan’s name on her speed-dial. As the phone started to ring, Jae checked her tone. Just as she was about to hang up, Morgan answered on the fifth ring.

“What’s up bro?” Morgan asked eagerly, “How did it go?”
“Not much man. I was too nervous to ask, so I didn’t go through with it.” Jae lied.
“Damn! Well, when the time is right it’ll come right out and…”
“Listen Morgan” Jae said cutting her off, “I’m feeling a little down. Is it cool if I stop by? I don’t feel like heading back to the house yet.”
“Sure thing. I’ll grab the shot glasses!”
“I’ll be there in 15.”

Jae quickly disconnected the call and tried to get her thoughts in order. This whole time… Jae thought to herself… this whole time she’s been acting like a friend to me knowing what she’s been doing behind my back. Encouraging me to pursue this engagement knowing damn well she’s got my girl on her team………

Regina spent 10 minutes feverishly searching the parking lot for the lost ring. As she was just about to give up the rescue mission until morning, she felt her phone buzz. Seeing that is was Morgan calling caused her heart to race…

Regina jumped right into it without a hello or so much as a pause. “Morgan, I was just about to call you. You won’t believe what happened here tonight. Her words were hurried and Morgan was having a tough time following along.

“Baby, slow down. What are you talking about? What happened tonight? I thought you and Regina would be chillen for awhile, but she just called me and said she needed to stop over because she was feeling down. Are you okay?”
“Yes, I’m fine. But I needed to tell you that…” Just then, she could hear Morgan’s doorbell ring.
“Listen baby, I’ll call you back after she leaves.”
“No! Look, don’t answer. Let me tell you what happened first!”

The line was disconnected and Regina became frantic. She quickly called back, only to hear incessant ringing. She ran into her condo to retrieve her keys and sped towards Morgan’s. She wasn’t sure what she would find there, but her stomach immediately sank at the thought.

Morgan strolled over to answer the door, to find Jae there with tear-filled eyes. Before she could say a word, she was knocked off her feet by a serious blow to her jaw. There was no time for her to react. Jae was over her connecting blow after blow to all parts of Morgan and screaming at the top of her lungs. She attempted to make sense of the words, but was fighting a losing battle as she experienced all the rage coming from Jae’s fists. Morgan understood her best friend’s anger and fought the urge within her to strike back.

Finally after what seemed like centuries, Jae had finally worn herself out and stepped off of Morgan. She now allowed her tears to fall freely as she looked onto her best friend in disgust. “How could you?”
